The following is based on the work done by the Project Admin for the WillisDNA.com FTDNA Willis YDNA project. The data displays the genealogical relationships for one group of Willis descendants whose YDNA test results show that they share a relatively recent common ancestor.

The data identifies line specific "Patriarchs", who are the oldest known ancestor of the line. For the most part the lineages shown here are as provided by the kit owners through the Willis YDNA Project. The data is approximately ordered in terms of the DOB of the Patriarch. The eldest Patriarch currently s hown is "Stephen Willis" of Brunswick County VA. Examination of the dispersion ages of the other Patriarchs, as well as their location/dispersion, suggest that they may indeed all descend from Stephen, or at a minimum share a common ancestor only slightly further back than Stephen. It should be noted that the lineage

This parituclar set of descendant kits is designated the "Southern Group" in the WIllis YDNA project, and are characterized as belonging to the R1b1a2a1a1b4 haplogroup. This group contains the largest number of kits (other than those that do not any other kit) in this Project. The predominant dispersion pattern seems to be from Hanover County Virginia, southward, into southside Virginia and or the Carolinas.
