Township of Lexington

Lexington is a civil township situated in the northwestern corner of the county of Johnson, state of Kansas, United States of America. It was originally bounded on the north by the county of Leavenworth (including the township of Sherman), on the east by the townships of Monticello and Olathe), on the south by the townships of Gardner and McCamish, and on the west by the county of Douglas (including the township of Eudora). Portions of its territory have since been annexed into the incorporated cities of De Soto and Olathe.

History

Lexington was one of the eight original civil townships erected at a meeting of the county commissioners on 28 October 1857 after the county was erected in 1855. The new civil township encompassed parts of townships 12 and 13 south, of ranges 21 and 22 east of the Sixth Principal Meridian.
