Township of McCamish

McCamish is a civil township situated in the southwestern corner of the county of Johnson, state of Kansas, United States of America. It is bounded on the north by the township of Lexington, on the east by the township of Gardner, on the south by the county of Miami (including the township of Richland), on the southwest by the county of Franklin (including the township of Franklin), and on the west by the county of Douglas (including the townships of Palmyra and Eudora).

History

McCamish was one of the eight original civil townships erected at a meeting of the county commissioners on 28 October 1857 after the county was erected in 1855. Its territory was soon reduced when the township of Gardner was erected. The civil township encompasses parts of townships 14 and 15 south, of range 21 east of the Sixth Principal Meridian. Its territory has been reduced by annexations into the incorporated cities of Edgerton and (in small part) Gardner.
