Fairmount is a civil township situated in the southeastern part of the county of Leavenworth, state of Kansas, United States of America. It is bounded on the north by the townships of High Prairie and Delaware, on the east by the county of Wyandotte, on the south by the township of Sherman, and on the west by the township of Stranger.

History

Fairmount was organized by petition to the county board on 1 July 1867. It was named after a geographical feature in the township. The new civil township encompassed parts of townships 10, 11 and 12 south, of range 22 east of the Sixth Principal Meridian. It was taken from the south end of the township of Delaware. In 1869, the south end of Fairmount was taken to form a part of the new township of Sherman.
