Township of High Prairie

High Prairie is a civil township situated in the central part of the county of Leavenworth, state of Kansas, United States of America. It is bounded on the north by the township of Kickapoo, on the east by the city of Leavenworth and township of Delaware, on the south by the townships of Fairmount and Stranger, and on the west by the township of Alexandria.

History

High Prairie was organized on 16 September 1867. It was named after the geographical features of the township. The new civil township encompassed parts of townships 8, 9 and 10 south, of range 21 and 22 east of the Sixth Principal Meridian. It was taken from the north end of the township of Stranger.
