This Ordnance Survey map of 1900 from A Vision of Britain through Time locates all the original rural districts established in Wiltshire in 1894. In 1934 there were a number of mergers of neighbouring districts.
Amesbury Rural District was in the central part of the county, north of Salisbury Rural District and Wilton Rural District, and south of Devizes Rural District and Pewsey Rural District. Amesbury Rural District existed from 1894 until 1974 when it became part of the Salisbury District.
