Facts and Events
Yetta must have married Sam prior to 1900 as she does not appear on the 1900 Census. Yetta was Leo's wet nurse as Fannie had him when she was going through menopause and she didn't have enough milk. Yetta was known as the Renaissance Woman - she sang opera and painted and was very talented. The married Sam Pallay. He became a "womanizer" and Yetta divorced him then married George Sullivan and after him Harry Beck. SHE DIVORCED SAM PALLAY BECAUSE HE WAS AN ALL AMERICAN WOMANIZER. EVEN HIS PARENTS WERE DISGUSTED WITH HIM. THEY GAVE HIM ONE OF THEIR HOTELS AND HAD NOTHING MORE TO DO WITH HIM OR HIS SUBSEQUENT MARRIAGES. THEY TRANSFERRED ALL THEIR AFFECTIONS TO YETTA AND HER TWO BOYS. THEY PRACTICALLY RAISED LEO AND CLARENCE PALLAY, AND YETTA WAS FREE TO LIVE AN EXCITING LIFE WITH GEORGE SULLIVAN. I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY DIVORCED. FINALLY SHE MARRIED HARRY BECK, AN UNINTERESTING FIRE CHIEF. IT WAS A MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE WHICH ENDED IN 1940 WHEN HE DIED. I KNEW ALL OF THEM, AND LIKED UNCLE GEORGE WHO FISHED WITH MY DAD AND OCCASIONALLY BABY- SAT ME. (written by George Bodner - Oregon) Yetta had 3 husbands - 1 was a drunk, 1 was a trapper and fisherman (George Sullivan) and was gone for a year at a time and the last one she kept. His last name was Beck. References
