William W. Winans

William Wendell Winans 81, died Saturday at his home in Greene where he had been a resident for the past 60 years.
He was born in Mecca Township on May 27, 1868 to James and Lavira [sic] (Huntley) Winans and on Dec. 24, 1890 married the former Edith J. Gumm <sic>. His wife preceded him in death on Nov. 30, 1944.
He was a retired farmer and charter member of the Royal Grange of Greene.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Hyde of Eustis, Fla. and Mrs. Verna Hartman of Greene; three sons, Walter and Bernard of Canton and Aylmer of Cortland; 13 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Vestina Armstrong of Bazetta.
The body is at the Love Funeral Home in Cortland where friends may call this evening from 7:30 to 9:30. Services will be at the Funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 2 in charge of Rev. George Van Wingerden. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greene.
