Culpeper County deeds show Wm Sims & wf Milley joined Zacharias Sims b 1755 & Uncle to William & wf Elizabeth in 1783 in selling to Samuel Delph 160 1/2 acres on Robinson R. ....corner George Rasor....Little Dark run...run at mouth of the spring branch....to River etc. Milley released dower in separate entry. DB L- p 261.

• --Thomas Sims & wf Mary, William Sims & wf Milly sold 103 Acres in the Michael Yates lines to John Sims 15 Oct 1798, consid. 110L; land beg. oak stump cleft of Rocks at foot of Wolf Mt., corner Michael Yates, corner to Abner Sims...to hickory on E side of top of the fork Mountain, etc. (U-99)
• --John Sims purchased from Thomas Sims & wf Mary, William Sims & wf Milly October 15, 1798 103 Acres Culpeper County (now Rappahannock County, Va.) beginning at cleft of rocks at foot of Wolf Mt...corner Michael yates....corner Abner Sims, etc., with consideration 200 L. Also October 19, 1801 there is a deed recorded in which Thomas Sims & Mary conveyed to John Sims for $200 "land at corner of John Sims & Michael Yates in Sims' old line." Culpeper Co., Va. DB U- pg 99. & W - pg 230.
• --William Sims & wf Milla (signed Milley) to Abner Sims, all of Culp, for 40 L 63 Acres in Culpeper beg. tree in Michael Yates line...corner to Philip Jacob Irons...M. Yates line to beg. Dated 15 oct 1798. No witnesses. (U-97)

William Sims & Milley were probably selling their Culpeper County property in 1798 preparatory to migration westward. His sister, Frances married Joshua Morris & had gone to western Virginia (now West Virginia); his brother Caleb was in Washington County, Virginia in 1806; his brother, Thomas in North Carolina in 1797. Reuben, Jeremiah, James, Abner and John appear in the 1810 Census in Culpeper, but William's whereabouts are unknown (source - Pamela Butler's FTM webpage).

We know from a Jefferson Co., TN deed record that William was in Tennessee in 1808....Conveys unto William Sims in behalf of his and his first Wife's Children, namely Polly, Lydia (Lidia), Backster (Baxter), Elijah, and Rebeccah Sims (see notes under Lydia Sims Hays, William's daughter).

Needed information:
1. Who was William Sims' 2nd wife?
2. Where did they live after 1808 (Jefferson Co., TN)?
3. Where did he die?
4. What happened to the other children, besides Lydia Sims Hays?

Ancestry.con - One World Tree - shows his death as 1822 Culpeper Co., VA, but proof of this is needed. There was no William Sims on the 1820 Culpeper census.
