According to 'Descendants of William Shankland', he married Eunice Bacon (1866-1929) and had children Viva, Harry, Roy, Raymond F., Jessie, Clyde C., and Chester.

 NOTE: He seems to be listed both with his father and with his own family in 1900.
 In the 1900 census for Prairie Green, Iroquois Co., Illinois, William 'Shanklin' is 38, born Dec 1861 in Indiana (parents Kentucky), married 15 years, farmer; with wife Lizzie 33 b. Sept 1866 in Indiana  (father Ohio, mother IN), with 4 of 5 children living; children are Harry b. July 1885; Roy b. May 1888; Raymond Apr. 1890; and Jessie b. Mar 1897. {ed 27, sh 6a, p. 58}  His brother Guy is on the same page.
 In the 1910 census for Davis, Starke Co., Indiana, William Shankland is 48 born Indiana (parents Ohio), married once for 25 years, farmer; with wife 'Enice' 43, born Indiana (father Indiana, mother Ohio), with 6 of 7 children living; children are Raymond 20; Jessie 13 -- both born Illinois -- Clinton 8, Chester 2 -- both born Indiana. {ed 200, sh 11a, p.140}  Their son Harry is next door, age 24 born Illinois, married once for 1 year, farmer; with wife Maud 24 Indiana.
 William and E. 'Eunyce' are listed in the 1920 census in Davis, Starke Co., Indiana with Clyde and Chester. Their son Ray is listed in Oregon, Starke Co. with his family.
