William Mason was baptised on 11th June 1767 at Exton in Rutland, son of Ann Mason, formerly Webster, and her husband Joseph Mason. William has yet to be traced after his baptism, although it would appear likely that he died young as his parents went on to have another son called William in 1771. One possibility is that he was the "Joseph Mason" who was buried at Exton on 6th July 1768, being recorded under his father's name.
