The following biography of Isaac Edwards is from: Carroll 1765-1815: The Settlements, By John Perry Alderman; Published by Alderman Books, 1985, p. 159 William Edwards William was the last of the children born to Isaac and Catherine in North Carolina; his parents moved to Little Reed the year he was born. He is the only one of the boys whose wife’s identity is not known, but there is some reason to think she was Elizabeth Bryson, since the eldest child was named Bryson Edwards. William was born Jan. 28, 1781, and he died Oct. 5, 1869 (Carroll, Cancery File #325). He was probably married a little after 1800 (1802 was the first year he separately listed for the tax). He lived his first years on Little Reed, but later acquired land on Wolf Glade and on the headwaters of Beaverdam Creek. William deeded some of his land just before his death, conveying a tract to his son Francis in 1869 for services rendered in taking care of “me and my son William” who was described as a “simple boy” (Carroll, D. B. 10-191). A chancery suit was brought to settle the estate, which had been complicated by several of the children predeceasing William with infant heirs. The settlement of his estate in the fiduciary records indicates there were eleven heirs (Carroll, W. B. 3-35); (1) Bryson Edwards, born about 1805, married a Nancy --- and died in 1891. (2) Rebecca Edwards, born about 1809, married James A. Webb in 1856. (3) Julia Ann Edwards, birth date uncertain, married David Williams and predeceased her father. (4) Augustine Edwards, born about 1814, married Mary Lineberry in 1836. (5) Henry J. Edwards. (6) Francis B. Edwards, born about 1820, married Anna Horton in 1847. (7) Delphia Edwards, born about 1822, married David Hanks in 1840. (8) Annuel Edwards, born about 1813, married first Nancy Blessing and secondly Rebecca V. Williams. (9) Andrew J. Edwards, born about 1823, married Mary J. Bedsaul in 1846 and then Nancy A. Melton in 1863. (10) Nancy Edwards, born about 1825, married Thomas S. Vass in 1845. (11) William Edwards, born about 1830, died Nov. 22, 1875, was the afflicted child. Some of the records of Annuel’s family give the death for Elizabeth Edwards, wife of William, as June 27, 1862.
