Biography

The following biography of Isaac Edwards is from: Carroll 1765-1815: The Settlements, By John Perry Alderman; Published by Alderman Books, 1985, p. 159-160 John Edwards John was born Feb. 19, 1791 and died Nov. 17, 1873. He married Mary Hague (born Sept. 5, 1795 and died March 26, 1881) who was no doubt a daughter of old Samuel Hague. They lived on Little Reed and raised ten children (a traditional list, only part of which can be proven): (1) Nancy Edwards who married Esau Worrell Jr. in 1839 (2) Eleanor Edwards who married Albert Huffman in 1839 (3) George Edwards. (4) Lewis Madison Edwards who married Rhoda Ann Tipton in 1849. (5) Pleasant Edwards. (6) Letitia Edwards who married Eli Williams in 1851. (7) Cyrena Edwards who married James Landreth in 1857. (8) Henderson Edwards. (9) Jefferson Edwards who married Elizabeth Bird in 1855. (10) James A. Edwards who married Mary J. Shumate in 1868.

1850 census: Annotated, compiled by John P. Alderman (1979) John (1791-1873) was the tenth child of the settlers, Isaac and Catherine Edwards. He married in 1816 Mary Hague (1795-1881). She was the daughter of a Samuel Hague who lived for many years at Woodlawn and had come here from Bedford Co. They had ten children, judging from the old census.
