William Martin Coble, 72, of Route 6, Burlington, died at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon at a local hospital following six years of failing health and three days of critical illness.

A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Peter Calvin Coble and Mrs Edith Elizabeth Isley Coble. He also was a member of the Antioch Wesleyan Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs Annie A Payne Coble; one daughter, Mrs Joe Lee Sharpe of Burlington; three sons, Fred M Coble, Paul M Coble and Joseph Coble, all of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs Maggie Thompson and Mrs Dee Bright, both of Graham, and Mrs Clyde Allen of Snow Camp; six brothers, June H Coble, Frank Coble and Peter C Coble, all of Graham, Arce M Coble of Snow Camp, Earl Coble of Burlington and Tash Coble of Swepsonville; 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at Mt Herman Methodist Church with Rev Auburn W Lore, pastor, Rev Charles Martin, pastor of Antioch Wesleyan Methodist Church, and Rev J U Fogleman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will remain at Rich and Thompson Mortuary here until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service tomorrow.
