Walter Bowden was born on 5th October 1874 at Tiverton in Devon, son of Emma Bowden, formerly May, and her husband William Bowden, a dairyman. Walter appears in the 1881 and 1891 censuses living with his parents and siblings at Cruwys Morchard. By 1891 he was described as a farmer's assistant. Walter has yet to be researched after 1891.
