He was listed as age 45 born August 1854 in Ohio, his wife Sarah J. age 40 born March 1860 in Ohio, their children listed were; John C. age 18 born December 1881, William A. age 16 born November 1883, Paul G. age 14 born September 1885, James age 12 born October 1887, Helen age 10 born November 1889, Arthur M. age 8 born December 1891 and Catherine age 3 born February 1897, all born in Ohio. It also stated Thomas and Sarah were married for 20 years, and had 9 children, and only 8 were still living at that time.

Otho Richards, aged 82, died of heart trouble Friday, December 4 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cathrine Pretty, East Main Street, Carrollton. Born at Harlem Springs August 30, 1854, son of the late Otto and Rachael (Little) Richards was the youngest and last survivor of a family of 11 children, and a resident here for the past 12 years. Mr. Richards had spent almost his entire life in Carroll County where he devoted his time to farming. He retired 12 years ago and moved to Carrollton. He was an expert mechanic and carpentry was his favorite hobby. He received his education in the Harlem Springs schools and later attended Harlem Springs College. He was a member of the Kilgore Methodist Episcopal Church. His marriage to Sarah Jane Colar took place in 1879. She preceded him in death, 11 years ago, on June 30, 1925..
Besides his daughter, Mrs. Pretty with whom he had made his home for the past 12 years, survivors are; Mrs. Helen Brandt of Kilgore; six sons, Charles E., John C., James R., Arthur M., all of Cleveland, William A., of Los Angeles and Paul G., of Amsterdam; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 6 at 1 p.m. at the home and at Kilgore church Monday, at 2 p.m. Services at the Kilgore church were delayed, pending the arrival of William Albert Richards from Los Angeles, California, when the aeroplane he was making the trip in was grounded because of inclement weather. Rev. R. J. Smith officiated at both services. Burial was in the Kilgore cemetery.
