Thomas William Moles was born on 19th October 1866 at Willian in Hertfordshire, son of a straw plaiter named Emma Moles, formerly Rook, and her husband George Moles, a shepherd. Thomas was baptised as a baby, but this appears to have been a private baptism, as he was not formally received into the church until he was eight years old. Thomas has yet to be researched after 1875.
