Thomas Meakins was born on 6th October 1762 and baptised five days later at Woburn in Bedfordshire. He was the son of Ann Meakins, formerly Wilson, and her husband John Meakins. Thomas’s mother died in June 1793.

Sometime before 1796, Thomas appears to have married a woman called Mary. Their marriage record has not been found, but they had two daughters baptised at Woburn: Susan in 1796 and Fanny in 1800.

Thomas died at the age of 38, being buried at Woburn on 30th March 1801. Mary survived him, as did his father.
