C[our]t. made liberal contr[acts]. in 1652, as in Trumbull, Col[ony]; Rec[ord]. 1. 234, appears, correct[ly]. stat[ed]. by Hinman, 47; but he mistakes in call[ing]. him the earliest on the rec[ords]. He was also employ[ed]. as sch[ool].master; by w[ife]. Mary had Hannah, b[orn]. 1656; Mary, 1659; and prob[ably]. Sarah; beside Dorothy, the first b[orn]. 17 Aug. 1653. He d[ied]. a[bout]. 1661, and his wid[ow]. m[arried]. an Olmstead.

    LORD, THOMAS, Boston, m[arried] 23 Sept[ember] 1652, Hannah Thurston, but of h[usband] or w[ife] no more is kn[own] and it may be that he did not inhab[it] at Boston, but came here only to be m[arried] by Bellingham. At least no issue is kn[own].

    No explanation as to why they believe this is the right Thomas, although Jacobus and Anderson both seem to accept it.

    I Thomas Lord of Wethersfield, being of perfect memory and understanding though weake of body, make this my Last will: And then considering the inability of my elder daughter Dorothy Lord in an ordianry way uncapable of ever carringe for it selfe in this world, seeing that extraordinary payns and Care must be taken with it, I, for the incouragement of my Dear and Tender wife to breed up and take the Care of my sd. Daughter, doe freely give my whole Estate during her natural life. I mean my house and Land at Hartford and all that part and portion of Goods and Chattells wch shall appeare to belong to me after the death of my Honoured and beloved Mother, and my house & Lott at Wethersfield, with all my Moveables & Cattell & Debts due either by Booke or Bill, my Just Ingagements being satisfied, trusting she will have a motherly Care of my Sweet Babes; and, if she can, Will dispose part to them that survive; and that She may Sell either of the houses for the supply of herselfe and children. Moreover I doe Intreat my beloved brother Capt. Richard Lord of Hartford and Mr. Samuel Boreman of Wethersfield to be Supervisors of my will, and to Assist, councill and act for my Loving wife Hannah Lord as her occasion shall require their helpe.   7. The reference to wife Mary appears to be a pure mistake by Savage. Jacobus (Ackley-Bosworth 282) and Anderson (The Great Migration, IV:333 acknowledge no wife but Hannah Thurston.
