    "III. Thomas Hyde (7), born at Norwich, Conn., in July, 1672, the fourth son of Samuel Hyde (2) and Jane Lee was a grandson of William Hyde the first of Norwich. He m. in December, 1697, Mary Backus, … second daughter of the first Stephen Backus, and Sarah Gardner of Norwich. He settled at Norwich West Farms (now Franklin), and was a farmer. She d. 27 March, 1752. He survived her, and d. 9 April, 1755."
