"Mary Hyde (55), born at Norwich West Farms (now Franklin), Conn., 21 Feb., 1698, the eldest daughter of Thomas Hyde (7) the first, and Mary Backus, of Norwich, was a granddaughter of Samuel Hyde (2) the first, and Jane Lee, of Norwich. She m. 14 Nov., 1716, John Pember, bap. in 1696 at New London, son of Thomas Pember and Agnes his wife of New London. {Calk. N. L., 355.) They settled at Norwich West Farms. He d. 20 Jan., 1782, at Franklin, aged 86; where she d. 17 April, 1783, aged 85. They are buried in the cemetery at Franklin, near the church."
