Told by Louise Hurst to Don Bastin 10/18/97. Tom went to work as a coal fireman on the railroad at age 13. He lied about his age, saying he was 14. He worked on the Elmira line of the DL&W railroad. He was layed off from the railroad and went to work for King Midas Flour, where he was a salesman for the Wilkes-Barre PA territory. See http://lackawanna.railfan.net/scrantn1.htm.

Told by Anne Anderson to Don Bastin 10/19/97. When Tom made his last trip to NJ, he told Anne about the Fitzgibbons plot. Mary Fitzgibbons owned a horse hair couch, which young ladies in skirts found most uncomfortable to sit on.

Former boxer.
