"Jackson's history of New and Bond's history of Watertown both give the date of his death as March 15, 1738, aged 72 years', but an examination of Middlesex Probate Records shows that Adm. was granted on his estate in 1720, ... The estate appears to have been held until Feb. 24, 1755, ..." [Note: the probate file is cited in detail above. This important observation is correct in terms of its correction of the death date. The real estate divided in 1755 was only that portion set off to the widow, which had to wait until she had also deceased, but the main portion was divided in 1721, as can be seen above. There is no probate corresponding to the 1738 date, and the record in Newton VRs, identifies that Thomas as the son of John, presumably the one b. 1723, though no age is given in the death record.]
