    "36 … Caleb Hammond, (Thomas3) b. Newton, Mass., July 4, 1700; d. ____; m. Norwich, Conn., Nov. 21, 1723, Mary Brewster, b. May __, 1703, dau. of Jonathan and Judith (Stephens) Brewster, and a lineal descendant of Elder William Brewster, of the 'Mayflower.' He settled in Norwich, Conn., at the time of his marriage and remained there until 1734, when he removed to Windham, Conn., and remained there until 1740 or after, when he returned to Norwich. The records of the town of Franklin, Conn., show that Caleb Hammond united with the Congregational Church there, by profession, May 7, 1731. He lived at one time in the town of Scotland, Conn."
