[Note: there is no probate associated with either of these dates. Neither appears to come from the older records: 1728, 1738. Since the one was an addition by the 1850 committee, it appears it is a typo, and these should represent a single event. Which date is correct is not entierely clear, though. No gravestone has been located. We do know that John's son Thomas is not mentioned in his 1763 will, so he died before then, and we know the 1738 date is often mistakenly applied to a man who died in 1720.]
