In the Indian War Bounty Land Grant Papers, it states that Thomas died in Lowndes Co., near the Lowndes-Thomas line. This possibly could have been in what is now Colquitt Co. The death certificate for Dicy Richardson, his daughter, states that Thomas was born in Colquitt Co., which we know is incorrect because Colquitt Co. did not exist until 1856, and all known census records say Thomas was born in North Carolina. An original sketch of Thomas which appears at Huxford geneological society, says that Thomas was buried at Sardis Church in Colquitt Co. The sketch is identical except in the Book published by Huxford it does not give the information about Sardis Church. Sardis Church is in the lower south east corner of Colquitt Co., which at one time was Lowndes Co. It is possible this could be where Thomas was living when he died. Lane Giddens visited with Mrs. Murkerson, who told him that she was the one who had written the original sketch for Huxford, but that last sentence was not published in the book for some unknown reason.

All historical sketches indicate that Thomas' father was Thomas R.S., however it is the opinion of Lane Giddens that his father was Benjamin Giddens.(see notes for Benjamin Giddens)
