17 Nov 2003 Although all know sketches, including Huxford, give Thomas Giddens, R.S., as Thomas' father, I personally feel that it may be Benjamin and here are the reasons why: 1. In the 1820 Bulloch Co., Ga. census, where Thomas was supposed to be living with has father, there is a Benjamin Giddens as head of the house, but not a Thomas. Thomas married Mary Baker (Neville) in 1824 in Bulloch Co., and his son John Giddens states in the Indian War Bounty Land Grant application for Thomas that he was present at their marriage and that Mary was his stepmother, which places Thomas in Bulloch Co. with Benjamin Giddens as head of the household. 2. In the Thomas Co. Courthouse, there is a petition by Morris Giddens, who is supposed to be one of the brothers of Thomas, making application to be the executor of Benjamin Giddens' estate. 3. I cannot find any record of a Thomas Giddens R.S. 2. In the Thomas Co.
