    All of his children with Elizabeth from 1793 onward (which is to say all of their children but the first) were baptized in St Peter's Chapel Allenheads in the parish of Allendale. Some of these records are quite rich in detail. The 1800, 1803, and 1805 records specifically identify Thomas' parents as "John Chatt, smelter, and Elizabeth late Short".
