The 1790 census lists 4 house slaves. His will lists the names of several slaves: Charlotte (given to Tunis), Prudence (at the time less than 14 years old, given to Elizabeth), Hager (girl, given to Rachel), Hannah (given to Lydia), Young Dinah (given to Phebe), Sarah (given to Mary), Joseph (a boy), Old Jacob, Old Hager and Cliandy (given to Reuben). There were "other Negroes to be appraised and equally divided between my wife Jane and my four daughters".
