Susannah Hobbs was baptised on 1st August 1784 at Great Gaddesden in Hertfordshire, daughter of Elizabeth Hobbs, formerly Cook, and her husband John Hobbs. The family lived at Ballingdon, which was actually a detached part of the parish of Whipsnade at the time, but on the borders with the neighbouring parishes of Great Gaddesden and Flamstead.

Susannah was married on 28th November 1805 at nearby Studham in Bedfordshire to John Parrott. They went on to have five children together between 1806 and 1820, although the youngest died when only two years old in 1822. The first four children were baptised at Flamstead and the youngest at Whipsnade. Susannah's family seems to have lived in the Gaddesden Row / Ballingdon Bottom area, close to the borders of Flamstead, Whipsnade and Great Gaddesden parishes.

Susannah's father died in 1810 and her mother died in 1815.

By 1841 Susannah and John had moved a couple of miles south to Hemel Hempstead, where they lived at Piccotts End on the northern edge of the town. The 1841 census finds Susannah, John and two of their children living there, with John described as an agricultural labourer.

Susannah died in 1842, aged 57. She was buried at Hemel Hempstead on 23rd January 1842. John survived her by nearly fifteen years.
