Susan Beeler Gamble

Susan Beeler Gamble was born in about 1821 in Mississippi or possibly Kentucky. She was the daughter of Armstead Beeler, who was of Holland Dutch decent. She had one sister, Sallie and three brothers, Arberry, Blevens and Minn or Milton Beeler, who was a doctor at Benton, Tennessee. Her mother is unknown. Susan was the second wife of James Gamble. They had children Sarah Victoria, Albert, John Shields, George Boyd, Annie Katurah Gamble and two infants listed as Baby Gamble. When the Gamble plantation was layed waste after the Civil War and they no longer had slaves, Susan did what she had to do and put in a boarding house in Chattanooga, Tennessee. James was old and ill health. When he died, she moved to her daughter, Annie Katurah's home in Cohutta, Georgia. She died in Cohutta, 1893. The exact place of burial has not been found. Susan Beeler Gamble is the mother of George Boyd Gamble.

   Susan Beeler Gamble was born in about 1821 in Kentucky. I found one place that said she was born in Mississippi and a couple that said Tennessee, but her daughter, Annie, said she was born in Kentucky, so that is what we will go by. She was the daughter of Armstead Beeler, who was of Holland Dutch decent.
