About Armsted Beler

Armsted Beler [or Beeler] was born about 1788 likely in an area of North Carolina that later became Tennessee in 1796. [U.S. Census records]. His parentage has not yet been proven. He married Susanna Estill (1792-1855), daughter of Col. Samuel Estill (1755-1837) and his wife Jane Tees (1763-1843) in about 1810 [need marriage record], and they had at least eleven children together which were named in Armsted Beler's will written on 8 June 1859 and was proven sometime around 16 April 1861 in Carroll County, Mississippi, when his Executor William H. Crawford declined to execute his will.

Armsted Belers last Will & Testament [Note: several obvious spelling errors, some corrected]
I Armsted Beler of Carroll County & State of Mississippi Do make and publish this my last will & testament in manner and form following:
I give and bequeath unto Susan Gambel and heirs a negro woman named Polenea and her three children Gracea, Matilda an[d] Mancea.
I give and bequeath unto Sarah Beler a negrow woman named Rachel and her children named Morrow and a Gurl [sic] named Manday and what housel [sic, household] furnetur [furniture] She sees Cos to keep.
Estill Beler has had five hundred and twelve Dollars I give him five Dollars moor [more] for the treetment he[e] had give[n] mee the balance of effects to the balance of my airs [heirs] countin[g] in what they have had after pay my debts at price Blevins D. Beler had had five hundred and thirty Dollars, Armsted H. Beler five hundred and thirty Eight Dollars, James Beler five hundred and Sixteen Dollars, Marcus L. Beler hour hundred and forty Six Dollars, William Y. Beler one hundred and twenty fore [four] Dollars.
I give unto his son Henred G. Beler two thirds of his fathers in consequance [sic] of his being a crippel, Milton W. Beler fifteen hundred Dollars, Ashbury H. Beler five hundred Dollars, Jane T. Williams Eight hundred Dollars.
I appoint William Crawford my administrator in witness whereof I have hereunto Set my had and Seal this 8th day of June 1859.

Thomas E. Buchanan being duly Sworn Says that he signed the paper exhibited in Court as the last will of A. Beler deced. in the presence of the Testator and at his request, I have known Mr. Beler a long time and think that he was of sound and disposing mind at the time he called on me to sign the paper as much so as at any other time Since I have known him. I think is in the hand writing of Mr. Beler the deceased.
