Facts and Events
[edit] About James Beler/BeelerJames Beler [also spelled Beeler, Bealer] was born abt. 1822 [or perhaps closer to abt. 1810] according to Census records in 1860, 1870 and 1880. he was born in either Kentucky [likely and listed in the 1870 Census] or Tennessee [as listed in the 1860 & 1880 Census]. His occupation in all of these census records lists him as a Shoemaker or Shoe & Boot maker, making it fairly certain it is the same person that lived in Washington County, Indiana in 1860, Roane County, Tennessee in 1870 and Monroe County, Tennessee in 1880. In the 1860 Census which lists James Bealer as age 37, there is also a Frederick Arnola/Arnold age 36 that was listed as living in his household, and several other Shoemakers listed on the census near his residence. James Beler appears to have been likely married twice; first, he is listed with a Malinda Beeler, age 20, born in Kentucky, in the 1860 Census, although marriage records have not yet been located and are needed to prove this suspected relationship; second, he married Susan Easter on 14 March 1863 in Roane County, Tennessee. James and Susan are listed in the 1870 & 1880 Census with their four children, Madison H. Bealer [1863-1944], James William Bealer [1867-1921], Martha L. Bealer [b. 1869], and Susan Tennessee "Tennie" Beeler [1873-1946]. There have not been records found to establish when this James Beler died. He died sometime after 1880 when he was listed as living in Monroe County, Tennessee [which was formed in 1819 from part of Roane County], where it is likely that he died. Additional research and records are needed to establish when and where he died. References
