    Stephen Jones Killed.

Was Run Over By Train Near Brewster, Minn

    C. H. Giddings was down from Osgood Saturday afternoon and informed our reporter that word had just been received from the sheriff at Brewster, Minnesota, stating that Stephen Jones was killed by a passing train about two miles from that place Monday, July 28. His legs were taken off and he was otherwise cut up. He was dead when found. the remains were buried at Heron Lake, a couple of days after, as the sheriff was unable at the time to find out where his people live. The postmaster at Brewster remembered that the fellow had mailed a letter a day or two before the accident. It was addressed to Mr. S. Jones, Osgood, Iowa. In this way it was learned where the unfortunate man had resided.

Mr. Jones left Osgood the Friday before he was killed. He started for North Dakota to work during harvest season. His wife gave him a self addressed envelope and told him to write to her in a few days, which he did. The letter came shortly before the one from the sheriff was received. The deceased lived in Palo Alto for about 30 years and was for eight or ten years a resident of Osgood. His father once resided in Emmetsburg. The wife and two children, a boy and a girl, survive. The boy is thirteen and the girl ten. Mr. Jones was perhaps 37 or 40 years of age. He worked about by the day
