Date of birth

According to the 1880 census,[1] Frank was six years of age on or before 1 June, which is consistent with a reported but unsourced report that he was born March 1874.[6] The 1895 census[2] and his enlistment record,[4] however, suggest that he was born before June 1876, which is closer to the birth date given by his father in 1917.[4] The problem with the 1876 date is that it conflicts with the birth date of his younger brother Henry, who appears two years younger in the the 1880 census and who claimed in 1900 that he was born November 1876. The earliest record for Frank's birth, the 1880 census, is probably more accurate.
