Personal History

Stephen Anderson, second son of Francis Anderson of Manby, Lincolnshire,[3] and Elizabeth[1] (Lodington), was born on 20 July 1677 in Manby,[2] and he was baptized on 29 July in the parish of Broughton (by Brigg), Lincolnshire, England.[1]

Stephen, then living and unmarried, was a legatee in his father's will dated 27 February 1705[/6] (proved on 20 June 1706).[3] He was given and devised a rent of £45 annually during his lifetime to be paid in equal half-yearly payments at May Day and Martinmas or within 21 days. His father also gave and devised to him a mortgage of £250 due from the heirs of a Mr. Edward Parkins of Ashby, lately deceased, and all the right title and interest. Furthermore he was to be given a bond of £200 with interest due (or what would be remaining due) from a Mr. William Marwood.
