Had long, straight, black hair and was supposedly half Native American according to her son, Alfred, and her daughter-in-law, Betty. Maybe she was part Cherokee or Choctaw. Her brother married a Cherokee woman.

from Janet Fain Dowdy 3 January 2017 Facebook
Grandma had a tree next to her porch on East 11th street that she always put a string of Christmas lights on. One time two teenage boys stole some of the lights and Grandma was chasing them down the road swinging a broom at them and yelling, I was coming to her house to take her shopping and witnessed her running down the road after them. Another interesting thing about Grandma was that she carried her money in a tobacco pouch pinned inside her bra, when we got to the checkout stand she would reach inside her bra and unpin the pouch take the money out and pay her bill. She was a character for sure.
