Uncle Solomon Slates died Saturday morning, 1 a.m. and his remains were interred Sunday 10 a.m. in the Union cemetery, Rev. Wallace officiating. He leaves a widow and two children (one son and one daughter) and three grandsons to mourn his loss. May the angel of life comfort and guide the aged mother till she shall cross the valley to meet her husband. Mr. Slates was one of the oldest members of the M. E. Church of this place (Kilgore) of this place. He had the pleasure of seeing two new churches dedicated to the worship of God. It was always his desire to be in the house of the Lord.
