Solomon Salisbury GUNN was a carpenter, and in the 1840s built the house he and his family lived in just east of Greene Center. This home, where my grgrmo, Edith Jane Gunn, my grmo, Mabelle Winans and my aunt, Geraldine Gardner were all born, remained in the family until the 1960s. It has recently been restored to near original design. During the Civil War, Solomon maintained a station of the Underground Railroad on the property. Solomon was also a farmer and a Seventh Day Adventist.
