Death came to Solomon Gillam an aged and highly respected resident of Jefferson township, suddenly Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, at which time he passed away a few minutes after a severe attack of neuralgia of the heart came upon him. Mr. Gillam, although quite well up in years had been able to be up and around and Tuesday morning he got up at the usual time and ate his breakfast. Later he went to the barn to assist with the work and while there he felt several sharp pains in his left side. He went to the house and Dr. D.S. Linvill was called , but before the physician could arrive at the Gillam home, the afflicted man had passed away. Death was due to neuralgia of the heart with which the deceased had been afflicted for some time. ... When 9 years old moved to this county with James and Christiana Gillam, his parents. "He received his early education in the district schools of Jefferson township and during the year 1862 was united in marriage to Mary Jane Stewart. To this union two children were born, both of whom survive, namely Estom [sic]Gillam and Mrs. Lewis Druley of Jefferson township. Some time later his wife passed away and he was again united in marriage to Calemia [sic] Stewart, a cousin of his first wife. No children were born to this union. Besides his grief stricken wife and children he is survived by two brothers: Daniel Gillam of Troy township and John Gillam of Marion Indiana and four sisters, namely Mrs Manda Aker, of Ft. Wayne, Elizabeth Klose of Fort Wayne, Minerva Lythe, of Marion, Indiana and Alice Wright of Norfolk Ohio. Mr Gillam was a member of the Methodist church and was a loyal supporter of that faith and was one of the honorable and upright men in the county. Many of his acquaintances will hear of his death with sincere regret.
