[He]rem. to Sims. [CT, in 1761], where he had received a grant in 1667, and was one of a committee app. by the General Court to promote the settlement of that town; where he was permitted by the Gen/ Ct/ to "dispose": of liquors "until an ordinary be set up in Sims."; was one of the two captains of Sims. militia app. 1673, and townsman 1674. He was obliged to leave Sims. in the Indian troubles of 1675-6, with much loss of property.; remained a few years in W., and in 1680 sett. on his and (200 acres) on east side of Conn. River, present So. W. In 1686 his est. was the largest on the W. Town List, but it was involved, and remained so until his death. On this list he was one of six having the prefix of "Mr." He d. 11 Sept., 1687; buried in W. Old Graveyard, as was his wid., who became 2d wife of Daniel Clarke, Esq., of W. (NEHGS Register, July 1847 p 253)

SIMON, Windsor, s. of the first Henry, prob. youngest, b. in Eng. 1625, freem. 1654, was rep. for Simsbury 1671 and 5, m. 1656, Joanna Cook, wh. d. Apr. 1657, and he m. next, 17 Oct. 1661, Martha, sis. of the first William Pitkin, had, says Parsons, in Geneal. Reg. V. 464, five s. and five ds. but the fam. geneal. I. 253, names only for ds. Eliz b. 19 Aug. 1662, wh. m. 8 Dec. 1680, Deniel Cooley of Springfield, and d. 30 Jan. 1707; Martha, 17 May 1664, m. 1686, Thomas Allyn, and d. 7. Sept. 1687; Simon, 24 June 1666; Joanna, 30 June 1668, wh. m. 26 Sept. 1690, John Colton; Henry, 20 May 1670; Christopher, 4 July 1672, d. bef. 21 yrs. prob. unm.; Mary, 1674, d. at 2 yrs.; William, 6 Nov. 1676; and Roger, 4, if better authority be not for 28 Jan. 1679. He d. 11 Sept. 1687, and in Mar. foll. to elude the tyranny of Andros, wh. order. all admin. in N. E. on dec. persons' est. to be tak. at Boston, the eldest s. made partition betw. mo. and childr. How his minor four brs. and one sis. were bound by this arrangem. Sir Edmund had not time to inq. The wid. m. Hon. Daniel Clark, outliv. him, and d. 13 Oct. 1719.

Wolcott, Simon. 26 March, 1688: Know Ye that I, Simon Wolcott, son and heir of Simon Wolcott late of Windsor Deceased, for and in Consideration of my Natural Care to my Natural brothers, Henry Wolcott, Christopher Wolcott, William Wolcott and Roger Wolcott, have given, granted & Confirmed unto Henry Wolcott & John Wolcott of Windsor and William Pitkin of Hartford, as Feoffees in Trust for the aforementioned Henry Wolcott, Christopher Wolcott, William Wolcott & Roger Wolcott, all and singular the Lands, Tenements & Hereditaments which, in the Township of Windsor aforesaid, or Elsewhere in New England, did belong or ought to belong to my Honoured Father Simon Wolcott at the time of his decease, & so did in law descend or any ways belong to me the said Simon Wolcott as his heir, excepting only that lott or those lotts usually Called by my father Lower Lott or Lotts on the East side of the Connecticut River in the Township of Windsor, being eighty-one rods in breadth in the meadow and fifty-five rods in breadth in the upland, and reserving a full Double Share & portion with each one of my other brothers in and to all such Lands as may hereafter appear to belong to the heirs of my said Father Deceased which are not yet laid out or divided, together with all the appurtenances, privileges, profits & Advantages whatsoever belonging to or arising from said Lands, Tenements & Heredtaments not before Excepted for them the said Henry Wolcott, John Wolcott & William Pitkin as Feoffees in Trust for the above named Henry, Christopher, William and Roger, My Brothers, to have and to hold From and after the day of the date hereof till the said Henry, Christopher, William & Roger shall severally be of the age of twenty one years, & for them the said Henry, Christopher, Willaim and Roger Wolcott's only use and behoof; & after that my said Brothers shall severally attain the said age, then they severally to have and to hold, use, occupy, possess and enjoy the same, as also their heirs, Executors & assigns, forever.

I bind myself to pay out of my proper Estate £40 of the debts due from my deceased Father's Estate. I do leave intire my Mother's right of Dower in my father's estate. Finally, it is the intent of these presents to enable my said Mother to give what she shall see cause, out of the moveables, to my sister Elizabeth Cooley and my sister Joanna Wolcott.
Court Record, Page 7—11 November, 1689: Whereas, Mr. Simon Wolcott deceased, the Invt. of his Estate is Exhibited in Court, & no Dist. being made by this Court, Simon Wolcott, son of the deceased, with consent of the Children of age, and of the overseers of the children not yet of age, have settled a Dist. of the Estate of the aforesayd Mr. Simon Wolcott among themselves: This Court approve this settlement, and appoint Simon Wolcott Adms., With Mr. Pitkin, Henry Wolcott & John Wolcott."
