Date of birth from 1900 census, Butler Township, Vermilion Co., IL. This census also says she and Wm. had 2 children; 2 still living.

Sarah and William moved to Vermilion Co., IL sometime before 1869 because I have a deed dated Aug. 2, 1869 in Logan Co., OH showing both William and Sarah Duff Johnston and Matthew and Harriet Duff Stephenson were residents of Vermilion Co., IL. An affidavit in William's pension papers says they came in 1868.

Williams's pension papers show Sarah was receiving $8 per month as of Dec. 28, 1906. The paper was signed Dec. 7, 1907 and she was living at 1746 Clarkson St., Denver, CO at the time.

There's a letter in the pension file from a daughter, Belle Jones, stating she is the only living heir.

   Civil War Pension Record of her husband. There was a letter from his daughter, Belle Jones, saying her mother had died on the date shown and that her mother had been living with her for the past 17 years.
