Facts and Events
Samuel Bedford was baptised on 30th May 1784 at Bow Brickhill in Buckinghamshire, son of Mary Bedford, formerly Smith, and her husband John Bedford. Shortly after Samuel's birth the family moved to the neighbouring parish of Simpson, where Samuel's younger siblings were born. Samuel was married back at Bow Brickhill on 3rd July 1805 to Susannah Rickwood. They have yet to be traced for certain after their marriage. One possibility is that they were the Samuel and Susan who settled at Fordham in Cambridgeshire. Whilst it is nearly sixty miles from Bow Brickhill to Fordham, that couple did have a son with the distinctive name of Barnard, which was the name of the brother of the Samuel from Bow Brickhill. If the Fordham family are the couple who had married at Bow Brickhill, then Susannah died in 1822, when she was said to be 39 years old. Her husband outlived her, but it has yet to be established what happened to him after 1822. References
