Bio notes: Morrisons Cove Herald, Dec. 3, 1992 Russell E. Green, 88, of Roaring Spring died at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 1992, at Nason Hospital. A service was held at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Chruch, Roaring Spring, by the Rev. Robert Kennedy. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring. A masonic service was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring. Mr. Green was born March 19, 1904, in East Freedom, the son of John and Mary (Benton) Green. He married Elizabeth Burket on Sept. 12, 1925, in Cumberland, Md. Surviving are his wife, four children: Vivian Morgart of Bradenton, Fla.; John R. of Roaring Spring; Annetta Guyer of Newfield, N. Y.; and Linda Latchaw of Severna Park, Md.; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister and brother: Emma Wise of Tyrone and John of Duncansville. Mr. Green was preceded in death by a son William E., who was killed in Korea, and a granddaughter, Jennifer DiVico. He retired as a machinist from the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1969, after 47 years' service. Mr. Green was a member of Trinity UMC, where he was a member of the Questors Sunday School class and the Methodist Men. He also was a member of Woodbury Lodge F&AM, Altoona Consistory Bodies and Jaffa Temple. He was a member and past Grand Tall Cedar of Chief Logan Forest, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and member and past president of Shawnee Conservation Association, Roaring Spring. |
