M. Dick, 48, Native Resident, Former City Engineer, Dies Today Ronald Max Dick, 610 Main street, former city engineer and a lifelong resident of Newton, died shortly after midnight Friday at Bethel Deaconess hospital. He was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago. The son of William F. and Blanche Dick, early-day settlers in this community, he was born here Nov. 30, 1904, and was past 48 years of age. Mr. dick attended the local schools and starred in basketball during his high school days. He served as city engineer for several years prior to World War II and later was engaged in the restaurant business, being associated with the Sunflower café for the past few years. He was married Dec. 25, 1927 at Toronto, Kans., to the former Eva Summers, who survives. In addition to Mrs. Dick, other survivors include two brothers, Merwin Dick of Chicago and Carroll Dick of Newton; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Lee Crozier, and two grandchildren, Ronnie and Susan, of Newton; and an aunt, Mrs. Milton Blanchard of Los Angeles. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 4:00 at Draper’s Funeral chapel, with Rev. G. T. Meador, pastor of the Congregational church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
