1 BIO:Robert Lee is not listed in the 1860 census of Dalton Whitfield Ga but he was born in 1863 in Morgan Co. Our information about him comes from the descendants of his brother James Wm. Robert Lee was the last child born to James Lawrence & Sarah Snelling; according to JL's diary she died in Morgan Co in 1866 & had been sick for at least 9 months. JL mentions him as Lee in his diary entry of Nov 12 1866, but it is a little puzzling because it sounds as if he hasn't seen him recently. Could he have died by then? Or perhaps Lee isn't Robert Lee JL says al living children are now with him in Rome Ga except Sissie. We know that Johnny was still living, so why are the 3 boys listed together? Lee would have been 6 at the time of JL's marriage to Louisa Catherine acquiring 5 half siblings named Thompson & eventually 3 more from the new union. 1880 census for Polk Co Ga shows Robert at 17 living in the same district as JL & Louisa & 6 children but in his own home doing farm labor.
