The only evidence of Robert Shelley in New England is his name on the Lyon passenger list (which could also theoretically be his son's, traveling with his widowed mother, and sister); a reference to "the house that was widow Shelley's" in September 1637, and a reference to "widow Shelley's son" in January 1639/40.[1]

There is some confusion as to the passengers on the Lyon in 1632. Banks listed about 120 passengers. Another list prepared by John Corley in 1984 lists some 350 passengers. [1]
