Robert VirgilScholes was ordained to the Christian Ministry, June 1 (no year) at First Christian Church, Okeene, OK. Rev. Scholes has been minister of the Okeene Church for the past 18 months and has been a graduate student at the Graduate Theological Seminary, Phillips University, Enid, OK.

Obituary - Columbia Daily Tribune, May 14, 2003 Robert Scholes Robert Virgil Scholes, 79, of Columbia died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at West Village Manor in Columbia. Memorial services are planned at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St. Mr. Scholes was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Topeka, Kan., to Virgil Vernon and Vera Smith Scholes. He married Patricia Jane Synder, and she preceded him in death after 55 years of marriage. He has been a resident of Central Missouri since 1965. In the spring of 1945 he was stationed with the 1019 Treadway Bridge Company and helped bridge the Rhine River. He served as a captain in the U. S. Army in the early 1950s and later for many years as a chaplain in the National Guard. He earned degrees at Phillips University in Enid, Okla., and at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He taught at Seaman High School in Topeka, Kan., and at Pilot Grove High School, where he retired in 1987. He was pastor at the Disciples of Christ churches in Oklahoma, Nova Scotia, Philadelphia, Dexter and Boonville. He was the pastor of a union of Protestant churches in Pilot Grove. He was on the faculty at Kemper Military School in the early 1970s. Survivors include two sons, Marc Scholes of Hartsburg and Richard Scholes of St. Louis; a daughter, Roberta Scholes of Columbia; a brother, Vernon Scholes of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two grandchildren. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1864, Columbia, Mo., 65205.
