RRL's date of birth is recorded in his father's bible--see Henry Carlton Lindsey, THE MARK LINDSEY HERITAGE (Brownwood, TX, 1982), p. 65.

Unless otherwise noted, all information I have recorded about this family is from Henry Carlton Lindsey, THE MARK LINDSEY HERITAGE (Brownwood, TX, 1982), p. 95. HCL says that RRL was a farmer and a good family man. Not long before her death, his niece Lucy Mai Lindsey Adams told me that she and Uncle Robert were "buddies," and when she was a girl out walking, she would often find him off in the woods gambling with other men. Whenever she happened on him, he'd make her promise not to tell his wife he was gambling.

I don't really recall Uncle Robert, though I must have seen him at the Lindsey reunions we often attended when I was a child. Pictures I have of him from those reunions show him as an elderly man in a wheelchair. Many of the pictures show him smiling, with a pleasant face and a prominent nose.
