Robert Board Dies of Heart Failure Death Followed Sudden Attack Late Last Night Despite Efforts of Doctors Deceased Had Been Practically an Invalid for the Past Eight Years

Robert Board, for the past twelve years a well known and highly respected resident of this city, passed away at his home at 503 West Main street at 10:30 o'clock last night from a sudden stroke of heart failure which occurred a short time earlier in the evening. The deceased was 64 years of age and a native of Missouri. Surviving him are a wife, two daughters, Mabel and Florence and two sons, Robert and Arthur, all of this city.
Robert Board came to California in 1854, crossing the plains in an ox train with a company of early settlers. He first took up his residence in San Joaquin county but later moved to other parts of the state, moving from place to place until he finally settled in this city eight years ago. Since coming to Visalia he had not engaged in active business owing to his impaired health.
For the past eight years he had practically been an invalid although his heath trouble did not become serious until several months ago. Heart attacks became frequent since then although serious it was not thought that his life was in immediate danger. Yesterday, however, it was noticed that he was considerably weaker and about 9:30 o'clock last night a sudden attack of heart failure made his condition alarming. Drs. Pratt and Patterson were summoned at once and although every effort was made to save the aged man's life he sank rapidly until his demise at 10:30 o'clock.
Although he had never been actively concerned in business here the deceased was widely know and respected and his death will come as a shock to the many friends of the family. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
